The Bills worked quickly to close the gap between Guard Richie Incognito's contract request and what the Bills had as his value. After a brief game of chicken, where the team brought in former ProBowl guard Jahri Evans for a visit, the ink on Incognito's contact is drying as we await official details.
Incognito was critical in the Bills top rated rushing attack, as his ability to pull and get downfield is hard to match on the open market. Since little can do what he does so well, a 3 year commitment by the team makes sense. Originally brought in as a free agent, Incognito was aware of the stigma that had run him out of the league just a short while before. Having climbed that mountain, Incognito and the rest of the Bills offense line (having recently retained Left Tackle Cordy Glenn via the franchise tag) look to lead the charge as the Bills fight to make the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades If we are negotiating this contract, $2.5m per season in base salary, a $6m signing bonus coupled with a $1m roster bonus year two and three keeps the Bills at what his market value should be and avoids any long-term dead money issues
