Ladies and Gentlemen, the madness is about to begin. After months of anticipations (and a designed delay of this years’ NFL Draft to happen several weeks later than usual, with the league stating that Radio City Music Hall had a conflict with the dates for an event that was eventually cancelled for lack of interest anyway) the spectacle of the NFL is upon us. Today is a day where anything can, and typically does, happen.
Scenario 2: Houston selects Jadeveon Clowney, St. Louis selects any of the top 3 Tackles, and Jacksonville selects a quarterback. This is very unlikely, seeing as though Chad Henne really didn’t play all that bad last year. If the Jags jump into the QB race early, Cleveland may be forced to pull the trigger with the #4 pick, which could cause a run on QB in the following selections.
Scenario 3: Houston-Clowney, St. Louis-Tackle, Jags-Mack, Cleveland selects a QB. It will not matter WHICH QB is taken. Just taking one will make Atlanta a viable option to trade back, Tampa could trade back as well, Minnesota will stay, and depending on if Tennessee retains the 11th pick, the Bills may get an offer to move back as well. This pushes a lot of positional talent down the board.
Scenario 4: Goodell announces that he has declared the NFL an independent nation, and the Air Force bombs the building. While also highly unlikely, people call Goodell a power-hungry dictator (see Eric Winston), so that possibility that he tries to Annex is always present.
Scenario 5: No one trades anything. While top 10 trades are common place, the teams in the top selections may not be willing to move without a phenomenal offer. It is possible, but I wouldn’t call this realistic. Someone will trade something for someone somewhere in the Top 10.
