Doug Whaley, whom I have dubbed the “Architect” of the Buffalo Bills, in trying to bring a winning franchise to the city of Buffalo, has made much of the moves and acquisitions since being with Buffalo, that parallel the moves he made during his time in Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh, the players that he was able to bring into the franchise, led to the Steelers winning two Super Bowl titles, while making 3 appearances during the decade of the 2000s. Comparing the players that he brought to the Steelers to those of the Bills, it seems that he is trying to repeat history, and end the longest playoff drought in the NFL. Here is a glimpse of the players that Whaley has brought to Buffalo, and their Pittsburgh counterpart.

Although the stars looked to align for the Buffalo Bills, the one remaining fact that had to be addressed was that the Bills had to win their final two games of the season versus the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots. The Bills fell to the Raiders 26-24 extending the longest playoff drought in the NFL at 15 seasons. The question remains is what happened to the Bills Sunday in Oakland? by Mario "Game" Granata
There were many eliminator pools that were busted this past Sunday as the Buffalo Bills pulled off an impressive victory over the Green Bay Packers, winners of five straight, 22-13 at the final game in Buffalo for the 2014 season. As many Bills fans enjoyed the rest of their Sunday, some were probably shaking their head at just how the Bills were able to ground the high-flying Packers. by Mario "Game" Granata
With the general consensus around Buffalo, after the showing that the Bills put in against the Broncos, being that the Green Bay Packers are going to come to One Bills Drive, and roll over the Bills, maybe there is a glimmer of home against the 2nd leg of Hall of Fame quarterbacks that Buffalo has to face in the final weeks of the season. The Packers are one, if not the, hottest teams in the NFL, clicking on all cylinders during the “4th quarter” of the season, but maybe, just maybe the Bills have a shot with the way that their defense has been playing. Here are some things to look for this Sunday. by Mario "Game" Granata
Many are touting is as David vs. Goliath. Some are even comparing it to Rocky vs. Drago. However, the one thing that people fail to realize with those comparisons is that David and Rocky weathered the storm and we able to come out victorious. This is the task that the Buffalo Bills face, as they travel to Sports Authority Field, to take on the Super Bowl favorite, Denver Broncos. Now, even NFL experts such as Mark Schlereth are predicting a 100-0 Denver victory, however, what else would you expect in a match-up that sees the Bills as 10 point underdogs, and Schlereth, a former Bronco who has hoisted 2 Lombardi trophies in 1997 and 1998. This game has some interesting match-ups in and of itself that need a closer look to determine the final outcome. by Mario "Game" Granata
After the Buffalo Bills lost to the Miami Dolphins there was a cold front that formed over Western, New York and I am not referring to the severe storm that buried much of the area: it was the dim hopes of a playoff spot that had eluded the Bills for 14 seasons. Couple that with the fact that the Bills weren’t going to be playing the hot Jets, coming off of a bye week, at home. However, the skies opened, and the Bills were able to put together one of the most complete games in all phases to secure another blowout win against the Jets. by Mario "Game" Granata
With the Buffalo Bills dropping two straight games, and falling to 5-5 this season, the attention in Western New York starts to turn to the 2015 NFL Draft. However, the Buffalo Bills are going to be without a 1st Round Pick due to the trade that they made on May 8th with the Cleveland Browns. The player in that trade: Sammy Watkins. Now, going into the draft, there was no question that the biggest offensive weapon in the 2014 Draft was Watkins, but it seems that much of the talk is circling around other wide receivers and the question rains down, “We could have had (insert name here) and still had out 2015 pick.” Well, a closer look at the numbers will explain that the Bills weren’t wrong in their bold move to obtain the services of Watkins. by Mario "Game" Granata
As the sun sets on November 14th in the 716, the Buffalo Bills, just 5 days ago were in place to do something that they haven’t done in 14 years…make a playoff run. Standing at 5-3, the Bills looked to have things in place coming off their bye week. After all the injuries, and a quarterback that wasn’t on the team during camp, a Jim Schwartz led defense has been dominant enough to keep the Bills in games until the offense found their way. However, the powers at be wouldn’t allow that to happen as the Bills now face an uphill climb and a 5-5 record. by Mario "Game" Granata
With much of the debate in the Buffalo area about the 4th down calls in the Buffalo Bills match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday, many are wondering why the Bills weren’t more aggressive during the 4th quarter. Well, for those of you fans who haven’t played or coached the game, hopefully this will be a small glimpse of what transpired on the field at One Bills Drive. by Mario "Game" Granata
If you are still in shock for what just transpired between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs, then you probably reside within the 716 area code. The Bills held another halftime lead against one of the better teams in the league, and let the game get away from them. The defense played stellar, but turnovers and penalties inevitably did them in. Here is a closer look at the game as a whole: |
