The New York Jets took a turn for the worse in 2016 after a promising 2015 campaign that saw the Jets improve to a 10-6 record. They dropped to 5-11 due to the simple fact that their offense couldn’t put points on the board and their defense couldn’t stop anyone. The last time that the Jets had the 6th pick was in 2015 where they took Leonard Williams. Is another Leonard on their board for them at 6?

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams went all-in on Jared Goff. Unfortunately, the Rams have yet to win any of the 7 games he started. Not many people felt like Goff was a plug-and-play guy, primarily former head coach Jeff Fischer. Now that the team is under rookie head coach Sean McVay (and without a first round pick this year after trading it away to draft Goff), the Rams are taking an offense that was near dead last across the board and trying to find a way to inject it with some life. Let's be honest, not a single fan of the Buffalo Bills can look at the current wide receiver depth chart and say "yeah, we are set for 2017". The front office sees this the exact same way. So while everyone is talking about the Bills selecting Clemson WR Mike Williams with the 10th pick, this is the perfect opportunity to tell you about the player they are just as likely to target in the draft: East Carolina WR Zay Jones. Last season simply couldn’t end fast enough for Chicago. From the carousel at Running Back, losing their starting Quarterback, a-nobody-crew at Wide Receiver and the fact that they had 71 different players see action in a Bears uniform this year should speak to how things really went. Chicago has been very active team in free agency, bringing in a massive number of new players. It is safe to say that they certainly tried to get better, but holding the third overall selection in this year’s NFL Draft, Chicago finds themselves with a variety of options moving into 2017.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in an all too familiar place as they head into the 2017 season. Once again picking in the Top-5 of the NFL draft after a disappointing 3-13 season, they are making roster moves that seem to be raising the eyebrows of not only their AFC South Division rivals, but around the league. The Jaguars, on paper, look to be the favorite to take over a typically weak division, but as people know in this league, success comes from the top down, and this staff has a wealth of talent, but do they have what it takes to progress to the next step?

Imagine that you are given a blank canvas to create a masterpiece. Now, imagine that you have unlimited funds to put anything you want on the canvas and paint the picture in your image. Now, the only problem that you have is that it is your first painting, and the “artist” before you left out all the paint, and now it’s all solid and dry. This is the scenario that John Lynch finds himself in. He has been given the keys to the car in San Francisco with the uphill task of restoring one of the most storied franchises in NFL history. How are they going to do it? By Paul Wanecski and Mario Granata
The NFL is all about value. Sometimes value is in a player. Sometimes value is in an opportunity to bring in a young, unproven commodity via the draft. Many things go into the business end of structuring an NFL roster, none more important than the dollar it takes to sign, keep or acquire new talent and the NFL draft is the most alluring way to rebuild a roster. Sashi Brown, the Cleveland Browns General Manager since the start of the 2016 season, LOVES draft picks. This year the team has five selections in the first 65 picks, just the start of eleven total selections in the upcoming draft. Interestingly enough, the Browns were able to acquire fourteen total selections during the 2016 NFL draft, meaning that in the last two seasons alone, they have drafted more than enough players to completely fill out an entire offense and defense. Even after that, they still have a very long way to go. by Mario Granata
Much has been made of the not-so warm and fuzzy relationship at One Bills Drive between Doug Whaley and new Head Coach Sean McDermott and a lot of people are speculating that Whaley is all but gone as the Bills General Manager. There are other reports that state that if Whaley is in fact on the outs, it would be foolish for the Bills not to retain him as a scout in some capacity. While other fans are reveling in the drama that they could only find in reality television, here are a few items to consider that point toward Whaley counting the days he has left in Buffalo. by Mario Granata
Now, much has been made of the recent acquisition of Andre Holmes by the Buffalo Bills recently, probably because there have been more people to walk on the moon than are present in the Bills Receivers Meeting room as of late. All jokes aside, did the Bills get a “find” by signing Holmes to a 3-year deal or is this just another case of a player that is out of his element? |
